NOMMA 1
No evidence of a welded joint
NOMMA 2
Completely sanded joint, some undercutting and pinholes okay.
NOMMA 3
Partially dressed weld with spatter removed.
NOMMA 4
Good quality, uniform undressed weld with minimal spatter.

As welded, residual
flux and weld spatter removed only. Metal is unpolished.
Heat discoloration apparent, some bluing of metal in
and adjacent to weld heat-affected zone.
NOMMA 3 weld, glass bead finish
No contour grinding
of welds, residual flux and weld spatter removed only.
All heat discoloration and bluing adjacent to weld heat-affected
zone are removed. Uniform, satin-like finish provided
by glass-bead process. Light gray color.
NOMMA 1 weld, glass bead finish
Butt joints ground
smooth and flush, fillet welds ground smooth. All heat
discoloration and bluing adjacent to weld heat-affected
zone are removed. Uniform, satin-like finish provided
by glass-bead process. Light gray color.
NOMMA 1 weld, 180 grit polish finish
No evidence of
welded butt joint, fillet welds ground smooth. All heat
discoloration & bluing adjacent to weld heat-affected
zone are removed. Bright, general purpose, reflective
finish. Fine grit lines in uniform direction. Minor
pits in base metal may be evident.
